17th Maine Vols

The 17th Maine Infantry Vols were mustered into service in August of 1862. They fought in the wheatfield at the battle of Gettysburg. The 4th Maine Infantry Regiment lost 14 officers, and 156 enlisted men killed or mortally wounded and 2 officers and 135 enlisted men to disease during the Civil War. There stand at the stonewall grew adoration from both friend and foe.
